When I'm visiting Savannah I eat here almost every day for breakfast! I love the shrimp and grits and my husband loves the chicken and waffles! My kids love the pancakes! Always fresh and made to order and you can't beat the prices!

Sunnyside Up rocks old school diner better than anyone else. When I'm in Savannah this is where I go to get breakfast. They make great omelets and they don't mess around. My food is always perfect and they don't make you wait.

I never write reviews! I wanted to take the time and write one for this little mom & pop breakfast spot. I've Gone 3 times in the last few weeks. I always get the same thing: shrimp and spinach omelette. Nice and thin eggs- almost like crepe style. Simple, yummy, fast, good service and good value.

I have been coming here since I was a little girl and the quality has never changed! The food is great and you get a lot of it! The staff is nice and friendly. It's always packed to the brim, so not good if you aren't looking to wait a while or Sit near others, but other than that it is awesome!

Great food, friendly staff. The food is prepared quickly, and with great skill. This place is one of my highlights to visiting Savannah, after living here for 20 years. I always see a friend or two eating here, so I never eat alone. The staff is friendly efficient, and easily deals with the changes imposed by folks joining a table with other friends...

Easily the best breakfast place in Savannah! The food is *fantastic* and it’s quickly delivered to your table by friendly servers. Portions are big enough that you can have leftovers! The atmosphere is so welcoming that you can comfortably dine alone, but it would also be a really cute place to bring family or close friends. Love it!

I stopped in for a quick breakfast. There was no half and half creamers for the coffee. We switched to tea with honey. We gave our order and most of it came. We were not offered more tea. My toast never showed up. We had to find the waiter to ask for the bill. No apology from the waiter. Unbelievable! This is the first time I've ever left no tip.

Thank you to all the previous reviews for Sunnyside Up. They were very accommodating for my 5 yr old son who does not like his food to be hot. The food was delicious and out fast. I’d give them 6 stars if I could.

The prices are reasonable. But the quality isn't the best. For example the sausage is cheap tasting but edible. The hash browns are over cooked in my option and the grits are runny. I would have enjoyed McDonald's. If you are looking for a lot of food at a low price this is definitely your place.

Food here is always great but it does get very crowded and you need to check you order before entering you leave. There is a language barrier to overcome and if they get you order wrong you have to insist they correct it. Other then that it is a great place to eat breakfast.

03-16-18 Great food and service. I had a chicken biscuit with a side of slaw. The biscuit was flaky, tender and buttered. Hot fried chicken filet inside! My companion ordered the Triple Crown omelet which he demolished. It came with a pecan waffle, toast and hash browns. I wanted to go again for breakfast. Open til 3pm.

I love this place and always come here for their breakfast, BUT today I’m a little disappointed. I decided to change it up a bit. I got the burger deluxe with fries which was ok. The burger itself is regular which is kind of expected but not too regular. The biscuit and gravy was the bummer. The biscuit was a little dried out. Overall it was still good. I’m still returning

We ate breakfast at this location on June 13, 2018 it was fantastic! It's located in a strip mall which has seen better days but don't let that stop you from going in. Our server was friendly and efficient, the menu is extensive, our food arrived hot, quick and plentiful, and best of all it was delicious. Watching the cooks perform their duties was like a well rehearsed dance.

Good food but my waitress was not very personable. She made me uncomfortable because she did not completely listen to what I was asking her before she ran off but because I like the food there so much I will try again maybe next time they can get 4 stars because I do like them. Personally I feel they need a bigger place a little too close together noisy but bearable and she did not get my eggs right I wanted them scrambled hard

Came here based on other reviews. It is a great breakfast place!!! In a strip mall but don't let that deter you. Super cheap. Almost like a beefed up waffle house. We sat at the bar and saw them cooking breakfast to order. Clean. Nice atmosphere. Large omelets. Large portions in general. Diverse menu. Great place for families and people needing to eat cheap!! We would definitely eat there again!

So I came here today to get some salmon croquettes but it’s Sunday and they ran out but I got the fried catfish, cheese grits, eggs and toast... I love this little place. They have the best omletts. Today I had spinach, mushrooms and cheese. The cheese was throughout the omlett, not just in the middle. The hash browns are always crispy. I hate hash browns that are raw in the middle and barely beige. That never happens here. Waitstaff is attentive but not excessively so. Sunnyside up is two thumbs up.

Before I retired I frequently purchased breakfast here. Their omelets are delicious, especially the shrimp omelet. Jen always greeted me by name when I called. Caller ID or not, she didn't have to do that. My order was always correct!

Crowded as ever. Although they didn't have any more chicken wings. The waitress was very helpful with helping me make another selection. I got the 12 shrimp and fries for $10.95. Now at the other location on hwy 80 I was offered Cole slaw and at the same price. Infact it's on the menu where the first location didn't give it to me and I paid for it.Food to me was great anyway. I would recommend but as a call in.

From Massachusetts and looked up breakfast. Has the best reviews so I checked it out with my 6 year old daughter. Sat at counter to watch the magic happen (them cooking) and to meet some locals. After being a cook in the service and working at other restaurants I enjoy watching others who have good work ethics. This crew... GREAT WORK ETHICS! Team work makes the dream work. Food was everything we expected.... GREAT!

I don’t normally go by or write reviews but was going threw town on our way to Disney. We were all hungry so I found sunny side up on google and all the reviews were positive. We were certainly not disappointed. Friendly and fast service and the food was absolutely delicious. If we are ever back down this way we will be back.

We showed up Sunday morning for a morning-after-wedding breakfast for out-of-towners. No prior knowledge, no reservations. Eventually we had 18-20 people. Breakfast was delicious. The servers were incredibly helpful, efficient, pleasant, AND patient. Thanks for a great ending for our weekend.

Sunnyside Up has a nice diner feel, flavorful food, and a friendly staff. It was very busy, but the food came out fast. Most of the customers seemed to know someone else in the restaurant, so it seemed most of them were regulars. I enjoyed my experience, and will definitely visit again when I return to Savannah.

Traveling through town and googled Breakfast restaurants. Front the outside it doesn’t look like anything special. But once you walk in it’s easy to smell and see why it’s a local favorite. Delicious and HUGE portions. Highly recommend this to anyone who is really hungry. Btw the Blueberry waffles are awesome!

Delicious breakfast and very friendly service. During our recent stay on the river, my wife and I were looking for a breakfast spot that wasn't in the historic district. After looking through reviews we landed on Sunnyside Up as it is in the same shopping center as our favorite bakery. Our sever was very friendly and the food was exactly what we were looking for. This will be our go to breakfast spot each time we are in Savannah. Stop by for breakfast or lunch and you will not be disappointed.

This place is a breakfast MACHINE! You know the food is going to be good, when the parking lot is full... then you open the restaurant door to a packed house! We had an amazing waitress! I must say... the pancakes are delicious. So... if you have a little patience (and honestly we didn't wait long for our food) and are willing to sit and listen to the bustle of people chatting... the food was great!

We needed a place to eat on way out of Savannah and chose this place. My wife had the beef omelette and I had the chicken and waffles. Both were amazing. Everything in the omelette was cooked perfect. The chicken and waffles was the best I've ever had. Chicken was so juicy!!! Don't know how this place has anything less than 5 stars.

I have been eating at Sunny Side Up for over 12 years. I would give it a “5” except that the management changed the fries to a cheaper type that is not good. While there last I saw many plates go back with all the “new” fries. I get trying to save money, but to subject your wonderful reputation to a negative. Raise the price 25 cents. I haven’t been back again. Please go back to the old “fries”

This place was highly recommended by friends. Restaurant was crowded but we were able to find a seat as the food is served quickly by the excellent staff. The chicken tenders and waffles were good. The chicken was very tender and seasoned wonderfully. My wife enjoyed her omelet as well in spite of some of the ham chunks being overcooked/burnt.

Service was fast .. food was pretty good .. but you should know the shrimp and grits are literally grits .. and then shrimp. Like a plate of grits .. and then a different plate of fried shrimp. Both were good .. but that's not shrimp and grits.

This place is small, busy and packed with super delicious food! So much to choose from, me and my husband came from Maryland for a wedding and was looking for a diner style restaurant, the cooks made everything perfect and the waiters were so efficient, the overall experience was so great we had to bypass the free breakfast at the hotel and go back the next day, we highly recommend you try this place.... happy eating!

Great food and selection. Sunnyside Up is an example of what a successful restaurant/diner resembles. You can tell the owner and staff put in serious hours and hard work to make this such a success. When is this place not crowded?? Sunnyside Up is a true Savannah gem, and a great example of just how far hard work, above board customer service, and exceptional food quality can take you. It's an impressive operation, my hats off to the staff and owner!!

I had tenders and waffles. You get 3 chicken tenders, which were big. The chicken tenders were seasoned perfectly and went well with the waffle. I added a side of scrambled eggs too. I will definitely visit again when in Savannah

What to say about Sunnyside Up?What a great example of a fast paced restaurant! They time everything and have tons of kitchen staff on each station.They have a window for take out orders and you can seat yourself. Although there are many tables they don't follow social distancing but do wear masks. The food is AMAZING! We had a shrimp and spinach omelet and a seafood omelet. The pancakes are also very special, chew into it and like 5 seconds later a really nice flavor kicks in, like cream, and it's not too sweet so you can add honey or syrup.The coffee cups are made of steel so your coffee remains hot. Highly recommend it!

Breakfast sandwich was just ok - sausage patties were dry, not much taste at all to the whole sandwich. Not impressed with their COVID procedures at all. Patrons were told to sit anywhere they like (no attempt at distancing between tables). The staff all had masks, but most had them covering only their mouths, not covering their noses including the cooks and cashiers. And the plastic guards at the registers were moved out the way instead of being between the patron and cashier. Don’t need to come here again for many reasons.

Edit: Me and my family are frequent guests, this is our favorite breakfast/brunch place. Their waitstaff is ALWAYS friendly, never had a problem with service in years of going. I will cry if they are out of the waffle bowls, lol, but other than that every meal there has been great with no problems.

My food was stellar! I had the cinnamon raisin French toast, side of pig, and some grits. Everything was hot and fresh. Husband wasn't so lucky with his biscuits and gravy (cold and hard biscuits), pancakes (he said they were warm but liked that had been microwaved). Our waitress was sweet and continued to apologize even though it wasn't her fault. Oh, the coffee will definitely give you a boost, so good!

Sunny Side Up is our favorite place to visit when we are in Savannah. Our food has always been perfect, the staff is wonderful, their prices are reasonable and above all in this day of covid, I am impressed with how clean the restrooms are, you can smell the clean. We have never been disappointed, highly recommend Sunny Side Up.

Been eating here since before I can remember. Best breakfast in Savannah hands down! Workers are efficient and super kind. They get you your food in less than 10 minutes and it smacks.

Could maybe lable this as a hole in the wall. You can pretty much customize your breakfast with the takeout options too. Everything tasted fresh and wasn't overly greasy. They have healthy choices too. I'd eat here every morning if I could.

Quality tasty food, good service for a busy place. Like a home cooked Waffle House. Bathroom flooring was mopped with wrong type of soap, floors were extremely slippery. Mentioned to waitress so hopefully was just an accident

Pretty Standard Diner food. Met the expectation. We ordered eggs with bacon and hash browns with onions and peas. Said she was just a slice of cheese mixed into our hash browns and it was not even fully melted it was still tasty but I was thinking that they would at least melt the cheese on top of it or something. The coffee was good the most were cute and we actually ended up buying one of the mugs to take home with us. Our friends have a chicken and waffles which I definitely would say I regret not getting because I think I enjoyed a bite of their food more than my own LOL the waffle really didn't have much flavor but the chicken was phenomenal and complemented the bland waffle well. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because our waiter had a bit of an attitude and seemed very impersonal. I never understood why someone who seems like they don't like people, would choose to work in customer service. He kept taking his mask down to talk to us which made me Pretty uncomfortable especially since we were seated and removed our masks so we could eat & drink. I understand that it's hard to communicate through the mask but if you are wearing it for a protective measure than it should stay on your face and not under your chin. Did not like the fact that he came over and brought us are receipt before even checking to see if we need more coffee or if we were done or wanted anything else. He also split the check automatically and just assumed that we were with the person we were sitting next to rather than across from.....never asked us how we wanted to check split if we even did at all (which we didn't)

My husband and I are in Savannah on vacation and for his birthday today. I had already looked at the reviews for Sunny Side Up and I wanted to take him there for breakfast. This place is OUTSTANDING, Anthony was Awesome, the food was Great. We both left stuffed, that's how much they give you. For someone looking for a good place to eat for breakfast with good prices, you have to go to Sunny Side Up, you won't be disappointed.

We had fantastic service and the food was phenomenal and priced well. Very simple southern breakfast, but a lot of options. While it is nothing special, you will NOT be disappointed coming here, and will have better service than anywhere else!

I stumbled upon this place my mistake. I missed a turn to my hotel. When I turned around in the parking lot it was packed. I entered and saw what looked like a well oiled machine of organized Chaos. They had about every ethnicity working for them which I thought was cool as hell. Someone was quick to ask me for my order (I did take out). If you eat in you seat yourself. The plates were big, prices were fair. I had Salmon Cakes with grits and eggs. The salmon cakes were a bit charged, but they were good. All and all the food was good. I'll be back.

Good eating experience here. The Triple Crown Omelette is great. The Hash Browns with Onion is good. The English Muffin was toasted just right. The server hooked up quickly and the kitchen was fast. Then the server disappeared with no follow-up. The ambiance is colorful and vibe is good.

So much good food!! I had the seafood omelet. It was full of shrimp, scallops and crabmeat with creamy grits. It was very crowded but they handled things quite well. I'd definitely go back. Gotta try those pancakes.

Great, fast service. I loved my spinach, cheese, and ham omelet. The waitress was knowledgable and very quick with our service and refills of water. I even missed and left my phone and did not realize it until 20 minutes later. When I went back, they had my phone secured and I was able to retrieve it from them. Everything was great and I will be going back again soon.

The food here is delicious and the service is great! Chelsea was our server and she was very attentive. The line cooks work really well together and are fun to watch. Absolutely scrumptious breakfast and fast service. They cater to kids well. You need to experience this laid back breakfast joint.

Passed up the breakfast buffet at Hampton Inn in downtown Savannah; and, as I was driving out of town, I saw Sunnyside Up, with quite a few vehicles parked out front, and decided to pull in and give it a try. And I was glad I did. The inside was funky. The service was spot on: Quick, friendly and efficient. The coffee was perfect. I ordered the Triple Crown Omelette: two eggs, ham, sausage, bacon and Swiss cheese. It was the best omelette I’ve eaten in my 71 years on this planet. I’ve never had an omelette with the amount of meat this omelette contained, all perfectly cooked. It was accompanied by a generous portion of hash browns and toast. I got to say you got to go to Sunnyside Up in Savannah, Georgia.

Really, and I mean, REALLY good food ! Waffle was light and fluffy, sweet creme pancakes were so buttery that no butter was needed and they tasted amazing without even putting on any syrup! Bacon was crispy and not greasy at all. The biscuits with sausage gravy were also delicious. If you're concerned about covid, I would not go here to eat in because they are always packed and at all full capacity- you seat yourself as first come first serve.

In a word: amazing! Thankfully, we beat the Sunday morning rush and sat our party of six immediately. Our server was friendly, but the real story was the food! EVERYTHING was perfect! The prices are ridiculously low too! Highly recommend this hidden gem!!

Don’t let the outside fool you .. it’s worth it!One of my favorite thing to do is ask the server what they eat at the place I am visiting. Shana recommended the chicken omelet. It had marinated chicken, white cheese, tomatoes and onion. I had them put the broccoli on the side. It was deliciously wrapped in an egg omelette that was so tender it just melts in your mouth!The coffee was strong and encased in a metal mug which kept it warm the whole meal.The service was wonderful and the price was right!

This is truly a hidden gem located in a strip mall When you arrive you can expect plenty of people both getting take out and dining in this cafe style restaurant. Their breakfast is absolutely top notch made with quality ingredients. Whether you choose an omelette, biscuits and gravy or a traditional 2 egg breakfast with creamy grits you are in for a treatThe prices are extremely reasonable and the service was top notch.

BEST PLACE AROUND!!My husband got the triple crown omelette with grits and toast, I got the tenders & chocolate chip waffles. We also got a bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich to try. Everything was amazing. The sweet tea is definitely the best I’ve ever had. Service was great.

I’m so glad Waffle House was closed because their cook didn’t show. This was a wonderful local dinner. The people were friendly and the food (Fish and grits; salmon cake and grits) was amazing!

The food is great!! Taste homemade! The prices are great! Friendly staff. The outside environment seemed suspected🤔 However, once inside I see that it was family friendly and inviting. The breakfast here is AMAZING!! Everything was cooked to order and came out hot and fast! All the food is reasonably priced. I got the breakfast platter, which was about three plates of food, for under $10. The grits were actually cooked well, which is hard to find at a restaurant. It is a small place with a lot of tables so no social distancing. It's a hometown place for the locals and people passing through. You won't leave hungry, definitely worth the stop.

We went for breakfast during our first visit to Savannah and were NOT disappointed. Our server was hilarious and speedy. The food came out quickly and was delicious. You can't go wrong with breakfast or lunch from this place. We will definitely be back!

I absolutely loved my meal. Our server [Shana] was courteous and made a mocha for me. She cleared tables, took orders, and provided food in a way that could only be called graceful and effortless.The grits were creamy and the Seafood Delight was just that; a delight! Never disappoints. I've eaten here numerous times and it's always great! This morning, I had went somewhere else and never even got to order due to terrible customer service so I left to find somewhere friendly to eat. Sunnyside up NEVER disappoints me. Immediately was greeted by a friendly male server with a warm smile and good morning. That goes a long way and sets the tone for the visit. Food was amazing. Atmosphere was great. Definitely recommend!

Love the service, the price and the location. Their sandwiches are great, the biscuits and gravy less so. It's light on sausage, needs a bit more pepper, and mine was not hot; most likely newly added and certainly not a deal breaker. Thanks for a great breakfast!

A top rated restaurant, serving primarily breakfast dishes. The food is always great, served within a few minutes of ordering, and a ample amount. A diner type of establishment, with seats at the serving bar, tables & booths available. What's special about this place, is the friendly staff. With employees working here for many years, you get to know them personally & makes for a more pleasurable and friendly dining experience. The prices are inexpensive for the generous amount of portions served. For a great breakfast, stop in here. A thank you, to Tashana, my server, for doing a great job as well.

I haven’t been to this place in a while but I really wanted salmon patties and grits. Apparently, you need to provide a blood sample and your SSI because a order verification from your phone isn’t enough when you go to the front. Not to mention the lady was rude about the ordeal…Also, the cheese grits had NO seasoning whatsoever. I won’t be back.

INCREDIBLE FOOD! We went here 3 days in a row. The owner waited on us twice and he was so quick and friendly. Seriously, you have to try it! It may look like it's in a sketchy area but just trust me. 😊 I highly recommend the sweet cream pancakes. They were so, so good... And I usually prefer waffles.

The hubs loves breakfast! It’s his favorite meal out so after reading a ton of reviews about this place we headed over for breakfast.The place was packed and I can see why! They have excellent service, and very good food!!The hubs had pancakes and bacon with coffee. He really enjoyed the pancakes, the only thing that would’ve made them better would have been real butter (not spread… which we understand that spread actually “spreads” unlike cold butter.)I had scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon and a waffle. The waffle and pancakes are made with different batter - which was a pleasant surprise!As a total aside I loved that this place is a real picture of America … all kinds of people working hard to serve all kinds of people. The owners must be very cool people.

I am very big on good customer service, especially when it's my hard earned money I'm spending. They met my expectations! The waitress was extremely friendly and the food was delicious. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and the place was packed but our food still came really quickly and it was fresh and hot. The prices are very reasonable (Waffle House scale as far as price, but WAY BETTER taste). If I'm ever visiting Savannah again, I'll definitely make this one of my stops! 👍🏽👍🏽

We enjoyed a great breakfast today at the DeRenne Ave location. The service was fast, friendly, and efficient. This location is ran like a well-oiled machine. There are lots of folks working in the kitchen area and the dining area. A table didn't have a chance to stay dirty, because as soon as customers left, a staff member was there to clean and sanitize the area for the next customers.

Our waiter was really friendly, polite and respectful. The eating was clean as all waitresses and waiters clean up after customers once they departed their tables.The food was delivered hot off the grill as it was cooked as per ordered. It was hot and cooked just right for our taste.

Atmosphere was really welcoming. This is a nice little hole in the wall place. My boyfriend and I stopped in for breakfast/brunch before getting back on the road and this food really hit the spot. It is seat yourself, which is always a little confusing, but the waiter and staff were really nice and service was fast!

Great place for breakfast and lunch. Lessie was our server and she was super sweet. Food was delicious and they offered a lot of variety. I went there with my family and we each got a little bit of everything. Highly recommend adding tenders to the Belgian waffle and the Shrimp Delight omelet.It was filled with locals so you know it's a good spot. 10/10 highly recommend!

I love, love, LOVE it here! I'm one of the fools who show up late Sunday morning for breakfast. The entire staff hustles like no other! Never rude. Even though they are slammed they rarely ever show it. That doesn't mean you're allowed to be rude to them. A few people get annoyed when they have to wait an extra 10 minutes. However when there's not one empty table in the place, on top of online orders, I think you can pack a little empathy. The food is always HOT and flavorful. And if you ever need something extra or specially made, they got you. I wish I could remember the names of our wait staff, because they are always super accommodating. Once I do, I'll update my post. Go there. Just go. You will fall in love with this place too!

Enjoyed a hot breakfast at Sunnyside up over the weekend. I have not been in ages and decided on the chicken n eggs breakfast with raisin toast. Food temp was great and the taste was good. Only issues are : I did not get apple butter for raisin toast and only sugar substitutes were on our table
